The Great Commission has literally been the motivating factor in my ministry. Matter of fact it has served as the basic principle and foundation of my ministry. Jesus shared, "Go into all the world and make disciples..."
This commission makes up the basis of ministry " Go and make disciples..." In the context of Christianity, a disciple is one who adheres to the teachings of Christianity. It is not just embracing it as a philosophical teaching but to embrace it as the Truth and a way of life. The Church at Jerusalem in the first century was considered, "The Way". Jesus shared "The Way" to Truth, "The Way" to enlightenment. "The Way" to developing a relationship with the Father. Matter of fact the scriptures refer to Jesus (as He proclaims), " I am the way, the truth and the life, no man comes to the Father but by me." This Self Proclamation announces the reality that Jesus is the path to fulfillment in relationship to the Father. It is this Truth that I rest and that I share with others.
Many say that Jesus taught a way...I contend he taught "the way", it is my privilege and gift to share with men and women, boys and girls the reality of His way that leads to the fullness of a relationship with the Father and Salvation.
The teachings of Jesus have become so maligned by the critics of Christianity, the way we often demonstrate our practice of Christianity to the world. But let me be clear, the power of the Gospel which is the foundation of Jesus' teachings is powerful and goes beyond criticism and or shortcomings in demonstration. The teachings of Jesus (the Gospel) are life changing and transforming. And I am privilege to be an agent and partner with God to share the transforming power of the teachings of Jesus.
I believe that the future of humanity rest in the hands of those who share the Gospel. The world will not get any better unless we share boldly and assist others in spiritual transformation. That is what Jesus did and command that we do!
