The Power of Love

Love is defined as the unifying principle of all of life, it is that which creates harmony and unity. There is no wonder that God is synonymous with Love because He is the Allness of Love.

Isn't amazing that the essence of God's being is love and He commands His creation to love and it seems that is the one thing that we do not do. There are so many breakdowns and meltdowns in terms of our interpersonal relationships, many live as if it is okay to have strained relationships and we make excuses and give reasons why we do not love.

In my many years in the church, it is amazing to me how the very opposite of what we are supposed to represent comes from so many people who proclaim their love of God. Jesus shared, "if you love me, keep my commandments..." Love is his commandment and we do not have the privilege of being selective in who we love and who we do not love.

Inherent in the idea of love is the term forgiveness. Forgiveness as defined of letting go. Letting go past hurts, pain, pride and the like. It is letting go of resentment and remorse. Forgiveness is freeing ourselves from whatever the pain of relationship brought. Forgiveness comes when we surrender in love.

Love is an incredible force that blesses and heals all that it touches. Our love--God's love, should be a healing power and force within our lives and the lives of others. Let the love of the Father permeate our lives that we can love others.
