Back in college there was a popular song, "I Got the Power!" On the campus of Virginia Commonwealth University we would hear the song blasting as we would hang out between classes in Shaffer Court. The lyrics and the beat of the song made me and my cohorts feel powerful and we know nothing could stop us or block us. We knew we had the power to have, be or do anything in our lives. This song speaks to the power that we have within, that power that God gives that is innate within every human being.
Charles Filmore in his teachings suggested that we have everything that we need and that included the POWER of God that is within us.
"For God has not given us the spirit of timidity (fear) but of POWER..." It is important to know that we have the ability to overcome any obstacle or defeat any challenging force in life. God has given us POWER!
Power is defined as authority/dominion or the capability to accomplish something. The more I study the word, I begin to see that humanity has been given authority to reign in this expression of life.
Do you know how many people are dissatisfied or discouraged with their lives because they feel powerless. Daily I talk with people who readily accept the status-quo because they feel powerless to create. Many walk beneath the privilege of God because they have no clue that they have this awesome ability within themselves to overcome any challenge.
Our power is not rooted within our own ability, it is rooted within the Holy Spirit, which is the FULL PRESENCE and WHOLE SPIRIT of God. Embrace the fact that the fullness of God rest within us. As we embrace this fact, we then know that we have everything that we need.
Why should we let controversy, conflict, pain, suffering or any other challenge stop or block our path when we have the full presence of God through the Holy Spirit within us? Why should lack and sickness be a part of many lives when we have POWER over them? "Greater is He that is within you, than he that is within the world."
That is why the Apostle Paul stated, "If God be for us, he is more than the world against us..." Because we have the POWER of God within us.
