Day 13-Keeping Focus on the Word

"My son, keep my words and tresasure my commandments within you. Keep my commandments and live, and my teaching as the apple of your eye. Bind them on your fingers, write them on the tablet of your heart" (Proverbs 7:1-3). (NAS)

Can you believe it, we are at the half way mark of the year! At the beginning of the year we started out with so much excitement and hope for a tremendous year. I want to remind you that you can continue this excitement and create that new year that you want for your life. You have the ability to create whatever you desire, but the key is focus. Focus is essential in accomplishing a goal. But it is not just in the goal itself, to be successful, we must focus on the things of God.

Keeping focus on the Word of God is important in living a life that is enriched, fulfilled and meaningful. The writer of Proverbs makes the assumption that our lives have purpose. Purpose as defined as a reason for being. The teaching of Proverbs, is the word of the Lord to us, gives us the necessary references we need to live a life that is enriched, fulfilled and meaningful, but more importantly a life of purpose.

The writer of Proverbs seeks to keep the individual from making "silly mistakes" that take our focus off of God and lead us into destructive situations. When we focus on the Word of God, we tend not to fall into destructive ways that take our focus away from fulfilling the purpose of God within our lives.

The challenge that we face this day is to keep focused on the Word of God. Do not make them just a part of ritual or something that we simply know, but make the Word a reference for your life. "Bind them on your fingers and write them on the tablet of your heart".
