Day Eight-Guarding Your Heart!

"Above all else, guard your heart, for it is the wellspring of life" (Proverbs 4:23) (NIV).

"Above all else, guard your heart, for it effects everything you do"
(Proverbs 4:23) (New Living Translation)

For the writer of Proverbs the heart was the mind. It was the center of thought and creation. In a very real sense, our thoughts and mind should be a conduit of the flow of the Spirit of God. In other words God's Divine Mind should flow to our mind via the Holy Spirit. This flow of the Spirit of God that is in our lives is the well spring that emanates the blessings of God. If that is the case, it is important to protect and guard our hearts.

In Proverbs 23:7 it states, "For as a man thinketh in his heart, so is he..." (KJV). It is through the power of mind-thought that we are able to create. Can you imagine we have a wellspring within us to create the world that we desire? Can you imagine actually designing your own life with the power of God? But most often we do not create we destroy because we do not protect our minds from the corruption of others. We must be be careful to what we allow to influence us, because ,"one doubt (a negative thought) can take us out."

The Apostle Paul shared the importance of protecting and guarding your heart in the New Testament as well. He encouraged to "avoid those who cause divisions..." and not to associate with those who do not have the same level of understanding, "Be not unequally yoked..." We cannot create from the wellspring that is within us in an empowered faith-inspired way when we are dealing with the negative thoughts and energy from others.

There are periods in my life when I have major projects or having to hear from God that I literally remove myself from everyone, because I need to hear God clearly. The voices of others are often static and in my experience you have to work through what others tell you before you can hear from God. I recommend that you limit the voices you allow to speak in your life and those that do ensure that they have a "right" to speak in your life, by virtue of the Lord leading them in your life in relationships of trust that are not tainted with baggage.

Spiritual Prayer Treatment

"Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus..."

Father, my mind is yours.
Allow my mind to be a conduit of the flow
of your Holy Spirit and a depository of your
thoughts.
Lord, I protect my thoughts, pulling down
strongholds and imaginations, and anything that
rises itself against the knowledge of you.
In the Name of Jesus, and Through His Power!
Amen! And So It Is!
