Day Six-What Does It Mean to Trust in the Lord?

"Trust in the Lord with all of your heart and lean not upon your own understanding..." (Proverbs 3:5)(NIV).

I have faith in God isn't that enough? It all depends upon what your definition of faith is. Faith for many is mere belief, meaning that they acknowledge that there is a God. Our acknowledgement of God does not bring forth any great revelation or demonstrate the power of God in the context of mere belief.

Faith that produces results, must be in the context of surrender to the Father. This is what the writer of Proverbs is emphasizing in the text, this kind of faith or trust. In other words, surrender to the Father, placing your life within His hands and lean not upon your level of understanding about what is best for you in your life. This is the ultimate trust in God.

Can you imagine of surrendering our lives to the Father and say I am going to trust you , for you know what is best for me? Can you imagine how this takes the stress off of our lives of trying to make things happen or forcing things.

Let me be clear, this is not about a passive level of not taking any stock in our own lives, it means that we are totally surrendered and we trust the Word of God. The bible is a book of principles, laws and truths, it is trusting God with my life as I live the principles of His Word. The bible produces results 100% of the time, if I follow and trust the principle we receive what the principle offers.

Father, we trust you with our lives.
We surrender the totality of who we are.
We place our faith and trust in you.
Lord, we vow to walk by faith and not by sight,
we trust your word, your principles and your
truths.
We walk according to your word.
In the Name of Jesus and through His Power!
Amen! And So It is!
