We hear a lot of talk about the idea of excellence. Business and churches alike strive to achieve a standard that reflects the highest quality. What about our personal lives? I am coming to the place of understanding that excellence cannot be achieved in our places of business until it becomes a standard in our personal lives. After all, excellence is not something that I do, it is what I am.
My standard is giving of my best in all that I do. That does not just include my career or profession. What about being the best partner or spouse? The best mother and father? The best son or daughter? The best friend? The best church member? Get the idea? My standard is not something I am aspiring to do, I simply always give my best no matter what I am doing.
This idea of best is not just in a competitive outshining of someone else. My best in terms of excellence is that it is simply my personal standard, it is who I am and is not contingent upon anyone else. It is a reflection of the Father within me.
