Bonus Lesson--Co-Signing for Others

"Do not be a man who strikes hands in pledge puts up secutity for debts; if you lack the means to pay, your very bed will be snatched from under you" (Proverbs 22:26-27).

To help a friend or family member, you have to be in a position to first help yourself. Co-signing is a very delicate matter, it is sage wisdom and advice to not to co-sign for anyone unless you have the means to pay. The writer of Proverbs gives us a strict warning of ensuring you have the resources and means to do so.

One of the interesting lessons that I have learned over the years that if I cherish the friendship do not look for repayment because they may default and I will be stuck with the payment which could hinder the relationship. I am blessed to have friends when I was in college who were always available and assisted in co-signing and payments, even if I was late or defaulted they never allowed the financial responsibilities to interfere with the friendship. Never allow money to interfere with your friendships. If you co-sign know that there is a possibility for default.

Father, may I be a blessing to others

to make wise business decisions that do not
jepardize my friendships.
