"A cheerful look brings joy to the heart, and good news gives health to the bones" (Proverbs 15:30).
What is our general disposition and approach to life? Are we optimistic, faith-inspired always of good cheer or is our disposition simply "nothing special or significant"? I dare suggest that the great masses of individuals in life walk in a disposition of insignificance and nothing special. These individuals are those who merely exist in life and do not get excited about anything and simply move through life as a runner on a tread mill.
This sad reality has produced a cynicism and defeatist attitude toward life. These individuals complain about the rising cost of gasoline, the economic uncertainty, and the unfairness of the judges on American Idol. They may have an appearance of material success, they have a job, a nice home, car, some financial stability. However, these individuals are surrounded by a cloud of cynicism and doubt about life.
Our disposition is important, for it determines how we view life. If I am negative or disempowering that is the way life shows up. If I have a disposition of optimism, positivity and faith-inspired, then life shows up powerfully. Disposition is everything!
The writer of Proverbs emphasizes the disposition of the individual who operates in the blessings of God. He is clear that a "Cheerful look brings joy to the heart..."
I suggest it is important to always demonstrate that you are happy and have joy! But I think that it is deeper than just the look, but it touches on producing a state of cheerfulness and joy. When I operate from the center of my True Spiritual Nature which is the Holy Spirit, I cannot help be happy and cheerful. But that is demonstrated by a state of "being" happy and cheerful. I must create the atmosphere in my mind, body and spirit that I am cheerful and happy. This produces an energy that permeates my life and all that I touch. When we operate in this "state" we generate a spirit of joy!
"Good news gives health to the bones..." The person that operates from a disposition of joy and happiness focuses on conversations that uplift and empower. As I have stated so often, words are powerful, words have the ability to create or to destroy. Conversations can be healing or destructive. The writer of Proverbs suggest that our conversations be that of good news. Imagine if we only talked empowering and faith-inspired, even when talking about the affairs of life that may not be too empowering? What if we did not focus on all of the problems, but we talked about solutions? What if we did not talk about sickness, but talked about health and wholeness? It all goes back to our disposition in life.
It is all a matter of decision. You make the choice to approach life empowered or disempowered, through the lens of faith or fear. What will your decision be this day?
