"Do you see a man skilled in his work? He will serve before kings; he will not serve before obscure men" (Proverbs 22:29).
Do you give your best in your career? Whether or not I am skilled in my work is determined by whether or not I have found my advocation instead of my vocation. When I have found my advocation, I work diligently at my craft and I want to do it well and I want to be the best at what I do.
Can you imagine that, being the best at what we do? Our work speaks so loudly about the quality of person that we are. Our work is a reflection of our character. Think of the last time that we heard that? We live in an age where work is something that we do and most often, we do the bare minimum and it is just about a pay check or some other ego need.
The writer of Proverbs suggest that being skilled at our work is important. I suggest that we develop a passion for our work. If you hate your job, then look for something that you can get passionate about, make it you advocation and not just your vocation. The blessings that we seek so often of abundance and prosperity is right before us, if we work with what we already have.
One who is skilled in their work will rise above the mediocre and mundane and will be recognized, the writer of Proverbs shares that he will not serve in obscurity, but will serve before kings. Know that the more you give of yourself and become skilled at what you do, your gift will be recognized.
