"I had set out during the night with a few men. I had not told anyone what my God had put in my heart to do for Jerusalem. There were no mounts with me except the one I was riding on" (Nehemiah 2:12).
It is important to guard your heart and to shield your vision from the negativity and destructive energy of others. We have a tendency of wanting to share and to illicit the support of others. Where the desire to share is understandable, we cannot do it before time because not everyone is on our team!
Nehemiah understood the concept of guarding his heart and shielding his vision. While he was in the process of formulating his plans, he did not share it with anyone. Matter of fact he was secretive. Why? Because he understood the principle of guarding one's heart. A negative statement in the fetal stages of your vision can be a death nail. Many never get out of the blocks in creating ultimately what God has for them because someone spoke death over their vision and it created such a negative impact on them that it discouraged them.
The vision is set for the "appropriate time". Don't kill your dream by sharing it too early for people to mock and ridicule.

Note of Special Day: This is my Emancipation Day Anniversary! July 11, 1980 I started my adult life as I boarded a train headed to Fort Dix, New Jersey. It is hard to believe that was twenty-eight years ago!
