Three Necessary Components of Ministry

"Jesus went throughout Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the good news of the kingdom, and healing every disease and sickness among the people" (Gospel of Matthew 6:23).

Jesus gives us the blue print of ministry. Jesus focused on three important aspects of sharing the Gospel Truth with others; He focused on 1)teaching,2) preaching and 3) healing.

Teaching is essential to sharing the Gospel and ensuring men and women receive understanding. Many hear the word of God, but through instruction we are moved to understanding and know how to apply the Word to our lives. Teaching is always student centered--teaching is designed to make sure the student grasp the truth.

Preaching as one of my professors shared is to persuade men and women through the Gospel to accept Jesus as Lord and Savior. Preaching is to motivate men and women to accept what Jesus did on Calvary for us. Preaching is not a performance, it is a gift that God gives to lead men and women into Salvation.

Healing is a necessary component of the ministry. Jesus healed all kinds of sickness and illness. Church must be a place of healing physically, spiritually and emotionally. Healing has not gone out of style, it is for the church today!

What would our churches look like if we focused on these dimensions of ministry? How would our lives look if we focused on these aspects of ministry? Church and ministry would take on a whole new meaning. Can you imagine scores of individuals daily being healed? Can you imagine scores of people receiving the Salvation of Christ? Can you imagine Christians growing and taking their lives to the next level?
This is how the church should look like and be.
