Fighting to Protect Your Dream!

"From that day on, half of my men did the work, while the other held were equipped with spears, shields, bows and armor. The officers posted themselves behind all the people of Judah who were building the wall. Those who carried materials did their work with one hand and held a weapon in the other, and each of the builders wore his sword at his side as he worked. But the man who sounded the trumpet stayed with me" (Nehemiah 4:16-18).

Opposition to a dream stops most people. For Nehemiah and the children of Israel they fought to protect their dream to rebuild, restore and renew their city and their lives.

The children of Israel believed in what they were doing! When you really believe in what you place your hand to, you are willing to pay the price against all opposition. These men were not builders nor where they soldiers, they were men with a dream and it moved them to do what ever it took to protect it their dream of a better life!

Yes there are times when physical opposition comes, but most of the time our warfare is not on a physical level but on an emotional and spiritual level. The enemy attacks on the level of the mind. If the mind is won, everything else follows. "As a man thinketh in his heart, so is he..." (Proverbs 23:7) (KJV) We have to understand that our struggle and wrestle is not with "flesh and blood" as Paul shared but with "principalities and powers in high places"; those high places are spiritual forces that attack at the level of thought in our minds. (See Ephesians 6:10-12)

On the emotional and spiritual level, we cannot allow negativity, dis empowering statements and energy stop and block the work that God has placed into our hands. We have to be vigilant in protecting our consciousness and our dreams from the attacks of the enemy at any cost. Think about it, it only takes one thought to take you out of your game. You must raise you weapons of war fare to protect your dream.

Paul wrote, "therefore put on the whole armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand our ground, and after all you have done everything to stand" (Ephesians 6:13). Moreover, Paul shares with the church of Ephesus what the weapons we fight with are. (See Ephesians 6:14-20.

To protect your dream you must be willing to fight and defend at all cost. When I served in the US Army, we took an oath to defend and protect the nation against all enemies foreign and domestic. It was an oath that we were giving of ourselves totally mind, body and spirit for our nation. It was a complete surrender to serve and protect the nation. God calls us to a complete surrender to the Lordship of Jesus the Christ and it is a following of the principles and the truths of His Word. It is a call to "Holiness" that our lives are aligned completely for the purposes of the Father. If we are not walking in "Holiness" we are always fighting some other battle most often with ourselves, and some other demons. When I am operating out of "Holiness" I am clear and my mind is centered on the things of God. We fight by keeping our thoughts and hearts centered on Him and Truth!
